❓How do I start recording audio?
To start recording, open the app and click the red record button in the center of the main screen. You can also use the keyboard shortcut Cmd+R to start/stop recording.
❓What audio formats are supported?
Record & Learn saves recordings in high-quality M4A format by default. You can change this to WAV or MP3 in the preferences menu under Settings > Recording > Format.
❓How accurate is the transcription?
Our transcription uses Whisper, which offers industry-leading accuracy. It works best with clear audio and standard accents. The accuracy typically ranges from 90-98% depending on audio quality and speech clarity.
❓Does transcription work offline?
Yes! All transcription happens on your device, so no internet connection is required. This ensures your data remains private and secure.
❓How long does it take to generate learning materials?
Processing time depends on the length of your recording and your computer's specifications. As a guideline, generating materials from a 1-hour recording takes approximately 2-5 minutes on recent Mac models.
❓Can I edit the generated content?
Absolutely! All generated notes, flashcards, and quizzes are fully editable. Simply click on any text to modify it or use the edit button to access more formatting options.
❓How do I export my learning materials?
Go to File > Export or use the Export button in any content view. You can export as PDF, text files, Anki flashcard decks, or directly to popular note-taking apps.
❓Is my data stored in the cloud?
By default, all data is stored locally on your device. Cloud backup is optional and can be enabled in Settings > Storage. When enabled, your data is encrypted before being stored securely in the cloud.
❓How do I add images to my notes?
While editing notes, click the Image button in the toolbar or use Cmd+I. You can add images from your files or take a screenshot directly within the app.
